Luxaire Error Code 02#

Troubleshooting guide for the Luxaire system fault 02#.

What It Means

Loss of communication between the CCM and the outdoor unit's Function Module.

Possible Causes

  • Loose pins, corrosion, or wiring damage between CCM and Function Module.
  • Loss of power to the Function Module.
  • Bus wiring short or open on the Function Module data line.
  • Defective Function Module requiring reseating or replacement.

Full Diagnosis

Loss of communication between the CCM (Communicating Control Module) and the outdoor unit's Function Module — the auxiliary board that manages accessory functions like electric heat staging, humidity control, or zoning inputs. Unlike 00# (CCM-to-main PCB) or 01# (CCM-to-NIM) faults, this drop is isolated to the Function Module's data line, so core compressor and fan operation can often continue while the affected accessory functions are disabled. The board typically flashes this code and suspends Function Module–dependent features until communication is restored.

All Recorded Causes

Inspect the communication wiring and connector between the CCM and the Function Module for loose pins, corrosion, or damage. Confirm the Function Module has power and, if equipped, that its status LED is lit. Check for a bus wiring short or open that affects only this module while 00#/01#/03# remain clear. Reseat or replace the Function Module if wiring tests good but the fault persists.

Verify Before Replacing Parts

  1. Confirm the exact Luxaire model family and default context before acting on a generic code description.
  2. Confirm board LEDs, wiring polarity, and model compatibility before replacing control boards — this Luxaire fault points at inspect the communication wiring and connector between the CCM and the Function Module for….
  3. Check for intermittent communication faults caused by connectors, moisture, or damaged harnesses, and rule out confirm the Function Module has power and, if equipped, that its status LED is lit.
  4. After the correction, run the system long enough to confirm the default fault does not return under normal load.
