Indicates a fault in the condensate water-level detection circuit itself — the float switch or level sensor signal is reading outside its valid range — as opposed to E6, which reports an actual high-water alarm condition. EE can trip even with a dry drain pan if the sensor circuit is open, shorted, or disconnected. The unit typically halts cooling operation as a precaution since the board can no longer confirm safe condensate levels.
Check the condensate float switch or water-level sensor wiring and connector for looseness, corrosion, or disconnection. Verify the float switch moves freely and is not stuck or fouled with debris or algae. Confirm the drain pan and line are not blocked in a way that would cause erratic float behavior. Replace the float switch or level sensor if it fails a continuity/function test independent of actual water presence.
