Unit is powered and in standby with the amber LED continuously lit and no flash pattern — the board's way of showing a good power-up with no active fault and no current call for heating or cooling. This is the resting state the outdoor unit returns to between demand cycles: compressor, outdoor fan, and reversing valve are all de-energized, and the board is simply waiting on a thermostat signal. It's functionally identical whether the unit is idle during a mild-weather stretch with no demand or pausing briefly between cycles, so a solid amber LED by itself is not diagnostic of anything. It is normal and expected for the LED to sit solid for extended periods, including days, during shoulder-season weather when neither heating nor cooling is called for.

Normal standby operation — no heating or cooling demand is present, and the board is not reporting or storing any fault. No action required. If the LED remains solid amber even when a thermostat demand should be active — for example, the thermostat is calling and the indoor blower is running but the outdoor unit never starts — stop treating this as normal standby and check thermostat wiring, the reversing valve solenoid, and the outdoor unit's contactor/compressor circuit instead, since a persistent solid LED during an active demand indicates the demand signal isn't reaching or being acted on by the outdoor board.
