Full Diagnosis
U0 indicates the system has detected an operating refrigerant shortage during normal running (not during commissioning charging) — low suction pressure combined with abnormal thermistor readings signals insufficient refrigerant to properly cool the compressor and maintain safe operating pressures, so the affected outdoor module shuts down to prevent compressor damage from overheating. On a multi-module VRV system with long piping runs and many branch joints, refrigerant shortage is more often traced to a leak somewhere across the extensive field piping network than on a compact SkyAir system, making thorough leak-testing of all joints and branch selectors necessary. Distinguish from P8/PA/PC/PE (which relate specifically to the automatic charging procedure at commissioning) — U0 is a genuine in-service low-charge fault.
All Recorded Causes
Refrigerant leak at a field-brazed joint, branch selector (BS) unit, or flare connection, undercharged system from an inaccurate initial charge calculation, clogged or crimped refrigerant piping restricting flow, defective low pressure sensor giving a false reading, defective thermistor feeding the shortage-detection logic, defective outdoor unit main PCB.
Verify Before Replacing Parts
- Confirm the exact Daikin model family and vrv context before acting on a generic code description.
