Full Diagnosis
Reports a fault on the refrigerant pressure sensor feeding the chiller's control logic — typically a signal outside the expected voltage/resistance range — on models that use a single general-purpose pressure sensor input rather than separate high- and low-side sensors. This is functionally the same class of fault as JA (high pressure sensor) and JC (low pressure sensor), and as 75/76 (the System No. 2-specific pressure sensor codes), but J1 applies where the control does not distinguish which side of the circuit the sensor serves. Compressor operation is locked out on the affected circuit until the sensor reading returns to a valid range.
All Recorded Causes
Pressure sensor connector loose, corroded, or disconnected. Pressure sensor diaphragm or transducer failed. Sensor wiring pinched or chafed near the compressor or piping. Incorrect pressure sensor (wrong range or type) installed after a prior replacement. Defective outdoor unit PCB analog input. Moisture intrusion at the sensor connector.
Verify Before Replacing Parts
- Confirm the exact Daikin model family and chiller context before acting on a generic code description.
- Verify airflow first, then confirm operating pressures and temperature relationship before adjusting charge, since pressure sensor connector loose, corroded, or disconnected.
- Look for restrictions, iced coils, or dirty heat-transfer surfaces that can mimic a charge problem, and separately confirm pressure sensor diaphragm or transducer failed.
- After the correction, run the system long enough to confirm the chiller fault does not return under normal load.
