J6 covers a failed outdoor unit heat exchanger thermistor — the sensor that tracks the outdoor coil's refrigerant temperature for defrost timing and capacity control — reading open, shorted, or implausible. Because this thermistor feeds outdoor-side control logic, the fault takes down the whole outdoor unit and, on a multi-split, every connected indoor unit. J6 is distinct from its neighbors J8 and J9, which monitor the liquid and gas refrigerant piping thermistors respectively rather than the coil body itself, and from J3, which covers the compressor discharge pipe thermistor.
