Full Diagnosis

E3 indicates the indoor unit's T2A temperature sensor — a coil/pipe sensor position distinct from T1 (reported under E2) and T3 (reported under E5) — is reading open, shorted, or outside its valid range. This is a physical sensor hardware fault, unlike E4, which reports a corrupted indoor EEPROM (stored configuration memory) rather than any temperature reading. When E3 trips, the indoor unit typically ends the active cycle and blocks compressor restart on that zone until the sensor input returns to normal, without affecting other indoor units on the same outdoor system.
