Full Diagnosis

H2 is reported by the host (lead) outdoor unit in a multi-module outdoor system when it detects fewer outdoor units on the combination communication bus than are configured — an outdoor unit has dropped off the network. This is distinct from H3, which flags the opposite condition of an unexpected outdoor unit appearing, and from H1, which is a general communication malfunction rather than a unit-count mismatch. Because it only applies to host/combination outdoor configurations, it will not appear on single-module outdoor systems, and typically reduces available system capacity or shuts down the affected module.

Check the inter-unit communication wiring between outdoor modules for a break, loose terminal, or disconnected cable. Confirm every outdoor module in the combination has power and its address/dip-switch settings are configured correctly. Inspect for a tripped breaker or blown fuse on one of the outdoor modules that would take it offline.
