Full Diagnosis

F1 is a protection trip for the outdoor unit's IPM (Intelligent Power Module) — the driver component that switches power to the inverter compressor. This is a hardware-level protection distinct from F2, which reports overcurrent measured at the compressor itself, and from F19, which is a supply-voltage fault; F1 specifically guards the power module driving the compressor against conditions like overheating, overcurrent at the module, or a short in the drive circuit. When it trips, the outdoor unit locks out compressor operation, cutting cooling/heating to all indoor units served by that outdoor unit.

Check the IPM's heatsink and cooling path for dust buildup or blocked airflow that would cause it to overheat. Inspect compressor wiring and windings for a short or ground fault that could damage the module. Verify the IPM's connections to the outdoor PCB are secure and free of corrosion. Replace the IPM/drive board if it continues to fault with compressor wiring and cooling confirmed good.
