This is a straightforward sensor circuit fault (open, shorted, or disconnected thermistor) rather than a communication or address issue — it should not be confused with HC, which is the equivalent fault for the (hot) water temperature thermistor used on hydronic-accessory-equipped units, or with U-series codes, which cover transmission/wiring faults between units rather than sensor readings.
